Another free software compilation...

http://softwarefor.org/

Quote:
Software for Starving Students is a free collection of programs organized for students (but available to anyone). We've gathered a list of best-in-class programs onto one CD (one disc for OS X, one for Windows), including a fully-featured office suite, a cutting-edge web browser, multi-media packages, academic tools, utilities and more.

V2007.01 has just been released and should be current. We'll see if these folks do as good a job of keeping their compilation as current as the Trinidad and Tobago Computer Society does with theirs. http://www.ttcsweb.org/osswin-cd/index.htm

What software is on this compilation?

Thanks Mike. A quick glance at the Windows utils showed some good stuff, like PuTTY, Firefox, and XAMPP.

Wonder if they can actually become a 503b when they ship Handbrake (which is technically illegal, right?)

Anyway, good list of software. I'll probably just keep the list handy, but not download the CD. I wish they'd give a short description of what each program does though. There's quite a few that I'm not familiar with.

Each item in the list of apps (as I linked in the original post) links to the app's website.

I'm not slagging you; I just didn't know if you realized that.
