I've got a friend with a Palm Zire 72 PDA, and for some bizarre reason, we cannot get VersaMail 2.5 to synchronize with Outlook Express.

He is running Palm Desktop 4.1.4 I believe (the one that came with his PDA) and whenever a Hotsync is done, it hangs on a screen that states it's collecting message information on account <name> in the Inbox folder -- and hangs there.

I've tried removing all messages from Outlook Express with no success. I've also removed VersaMail and Palm Desktop and performed a reinstall, made a seperate Palm Desktop user profile, and even removed VersaMail from the PDA itself -- no change.

Any ideas here, or suggestions on a freeware mail client for Palm PDAs that can sync with Outlook Express?

Did you do hard reset on the Palm? Sometimes that helps. The second thing I'd recommend is throwing it in the trash & getting a used Axim or iPaq from ebay for about $50, since they sync natively w/outlook.
