Lost pictures in a document

Using Microsoft Office97 I had an important document with pictures. Now when I open that document, the words are there but where the pictures are it says,{EMBEDED Unknown} I know the pictures are around there because it is only a 2 page document and it's nearly 200 megs so the pictures should be there. I have since upgraded to Office03 but I doubt that is the problem. I tried putting the pictures back in the folder that they used to be stored in incase the document looks for the original location but I may not have the exact wording for the folder so if it's looking and the wording is not exact it won't find it. But I assume since this small document is 200 megs the pictures should be there. How can I restore the document? Thank you

Does it still open in Office97? Do you have a machine you can test with?

Otherwise you might look at an office file repair product - I've had luck with Officerecovery.com

Are these pictures jpg or jpeg? If so, couldn't you just type jpg under "Search" to locate them?

The pictures are embedded in a document, so there wouldn't be any .jpg (or such) files involved.
