IE crapping out

So IE is hating. Its version 6.0 with updates. It says memory error '0x0234efa' at memory location '0x0000000' terminate or debug. and both crash out the program. I tried running updates and uninstalling other crap.
Hmm should i just try to reinstall IE? I have fire fox but certain websites i work with require i use IE. Is it most likely software?

Any thoughts are helpful.

Thanks,

Mark

What OS?

If you have XP, go to IE7...

For any Windows, try Dial-a-Fix from http://wiki.djlizard.net/Dial-a-fix

Also, do a good, thorough malware scan.

Solutions, etc

The problem with IE is that many parts of it is integral to Windows (in layman's terms, more complicated than that).

IE7 can be run stand-alone. If your IE is trashed, it's more than likely something in Windows is corrupt, hijacked, modified, etc.

Good starts:
http://www.tomcoyote.org/
http://www.merijn.org - HijackTHIS! BHO remover
http://security.kolla.de Free remover/scanner
http://www.lavasoftusa.com (AdAware - malware remover, but easily defeated, dont rely on it! see rootkit.com forums)
http://www.ccleaner.com (careful about the Yahoo toolbar when installing)
http://www.microsoft.com/technet/sys...sExplorer.mspx - things to see what is running, can kill any process running that your task manager cant
http://www.f-secure.com/blacklight/ removes rootkits
(WARNING: F-secure antivirus will lock up your computer if you have AdAware installed, and says so in the FAQ! I speak from experience lol)

Good luck - most often a "fix" is reinstallation of Windows, but it works!

Get the Firefox add-on ie.tab from Mozilla.org.
It emulates IE for those sites that need IE.
