Anyone with Slingbox experience?
We bought one before Donnie left. I can use it off our network and so can Jenny.
Donnie has used it in TX and in Baltimore. Since he went to Baghdad, he hasn't been able to connect. He is getting an error that seems to be linked to Vista (which he is running and not loving). He did run into this before, I rebooted the router and box and it worked again, but that didn't resolve it this time. He is going to have one of his roomates install and attempt to connect to rule out his system. He isn't very happy with this purchase. He really wants to watch SciFi. He is trying to connect without using their ID finder and via our own connection and neither one is working. Any other ideas? |

Is he getting a steady enough and fast enough net connection? I occasionally have problems with the one running with my brother while I'm here in Korea- but a reboot generally seems to fix it.

you have to set up a dyndns.com account. Then when you do that go into the settings and set up a dynamic dns option (it's free). Designate a name such as chrissy.dyndns.com and he can search for it that way.
open up a port on the router too

Shawnlee, he does have a good connection over there. He has his own connection in his room... I am pretty sure he has tested that, because he, well, just likes to test his connection.
 brainsmile, we do have one - a myftp.blah.blah type thing. We have it set up the port and all that nifty stuff. He can't connect using that (which he has when stateside) or via the ID finder. I know I worded that awfully in the OP. |

Yea, he doesn't have parental controls running in Vista. I googled the error already.

thy using hamanchi VPN so you wll will be on the same network maybe that will help
https://secure.logmein.com/products/hamachi/vpn.asp to get mine to work i had turn on port Fwding and i also set it's ip as DMZ and i use the sling finder service |
