Backup in XP
I am trying to help a friend who never before backed himself up. He tried using XP Backup utility but it insists on having a floppy, probably to be uses as a bootup in the event of a total failure. He has no floppy and using the drop down arrow, it insists on a floppy, when we don't choose floppy, it aborts. Is there any way around that or any suggestions for a free backup utility?

I dunno about "free", but I'd recommend either Norton Ghost or Acronis True Image for backing up system files.

What is he backing it up to? Data files only or is he trying to back up the whole hard drive, including the OS?
If he wants it all, have him get one of the tools DF mentioned. If he's just trying to copy data files to DVD or a 2nd HD, drag & drop works fine for me... |
