Windows Update messed up Firefox

I have automatic updates enabled on my Windows Vista machine, and after a reboot today, Firefox 3 is messed up. There's extra blank space between my bookmarks and the tabs. Here's an example:

Reinstalling Firefox didn't help.

I guess you can be glad that the update didn't break your network connection completely as last week's update did if you use Zonealarm. (That happened to my in-law's computer, which I get the privilege of being on call to troubleshoot.)

You could try uninstalling the update.

Not at all... aside from this little annoyance, I don't have any issues with Vista.

Did you check and make sure there isn't a new toolbar there that you can just choose not to view?

OK, now I feel like the dumb one -- I tried right-clicking the blank space and nothing happened -- but somehow when I clicked "View" I noticed there was an Ask toolbar.

(goes off to run a spyware scan).

Thanks Jenny!

hehehehe You're welcome. I've run into it before. Have you installed a program of any sort recently? Cause sometimes I automatically go through an install and miss an option where they say, "Do you want such and such extra installed as well?" Toolbar, weather desktop thing, etc. So it may not be spyware, but def. run a scan just in case.
