Best free webmail
While this is in no relation to the Chrome browser from Google, I'm actually contemplating moving over to a free e-mail service other than Gmail.
The biggest reason is lack of folder support. As a result of this, I have absolutely no way of filtering what e-mail gets forwarded onto my cell phone (and thus, receive alerts for). I do have some mailing lists and such I subscribe to, but I'd rather they just appear when I view the webmail page it's on. Of course, the big thing I'd miss is Google's excellent spam filtering (I rarely see a spam message in my inbox). Therefore, I'm wondering if people have experience with other webmail providers and could offer a suggestion.

At this point, I'd say Gmail is my first pick (since hotmail got rid of their POP3 support for new "free" accounts).
Oops... just noticed that you are currently on G-mail and don't like it. Please disregard my suggestion. (I use Outlook Express to sort my mail, so i don't have those problems. )

They have folders per se. More like tags really. I don't have any other recommendations because my hotmail and yahoo gets spam bombed all the time now.

Hotmail stopped allowing me to use outlook express and now I rarely check my e-mail.
I think I check my gmail about once a week. |

Hmm.... if only I had my own domain name, and a good e-mail server or something (but you'd never get away with that on a consumer cable modem line).
It's either that, or I just move everything back to my ISPs e-mail -- and hope they don't try to delete it again. |

I use a Windows Mobile smartphone, and it is set to pull my mail from GMail. Even if I label something using a filter, it still pulls it into the inbox.

Did you ever hear of http://www.bigstring.com/ ? Most unusual email. It has many unusual features, best of which is it lets you recall an email if you wanted to make a change or had regrets of sending the email. Other features that are fun is you can determine how many times the email is read before it self destructs. If you want me to send you an email with reading or printing restrictions to test it, pm me. You need to check it out to see if it has the filtering you need, that I don't know.

I've never used the email service with them, but I can vouch for 1and1. I've had a site hosted there for years. |
