Can you see an intranet site from the iPhone

Assuming there's no flash or anything overly tricky, I was wondering if you could view an intranet site while connected to the local network over 802.11g.

Sure, as long as 1) you get an internal IP address from your WAP, and 2) the site displays properly on your phone.

Have you tried it? I was having some trouble. I know for sure the site displays properly.

No - sadly, I don't have wireless access to my internal work network.

I was able to test this this morning and it looks like in order to get to an intranet site you have to type in the numeric ip address and not the name of the server. So something like 192.168.1.112 instead of \\corporateintranet

if you're doing: \\corporateintranet, you're trying to access a box, presumabily from a windows box into nas drive or another windows box.

apple won't understand that.

if your company had an internal dns server to point names (ie http://corporateintranet) to the ipadddress (192.168.1.112), then, you would have no problems.
but double backslash means that you're going into a specific box, that's managed by windows names. I've never had success like that at home where i have both windows and mac. i alwyas use ipaddress to hit up my windows box.
