Depends on what you're doing with it. If I remember correctly a majority of webservers run either Linux or BSD (both are Unix-like).

Linux is awesome. I haven't tried Windows 7 yet and I see no reason to do so. My XP dual boot works fine for me, but I really only boot into XP when I need to do something specific. I spend 85-95% of my time in Linux.

I work for a software company. Our customers are primarily investment banks. Probably 90% of our deployments are on linux, so that's what I use at work.

I put the ubuntu-netbook-remix on my netbook because it's a great fit for a low power device, and I'm already comfortable with linux. I still primarily run windows at home, but if not for gaming I'd probably run linux there, too.

I also work for a software development company, and we use Linux as a server platform for a variety of small things, but never as a desktop OS - Windows is way, WAY more appropriate because everyone is already very familiar & comfortable with it.

It really all boils down to what you're comfortable with, tho. If you've always used (whatever OS), that's the one you'll be the most productive with. But If you want to learn a new technology, Linux is the best because 1) it's free, and 2) there's so much peer support for it out there.
