Question

This is a strange situation. ICS was working fine when we had the connection going through my system and not the hubby's. Now that we have it going though his system, my system is throwing fits.

Right now we can't get a router... July will be when we can get it.

This is what is going on. We have tried ICS, WinRoute, Wingate, Analog X, and I don't know how many other different softwares to help manage the connection. And either they allow me to surf and not get email and forget about IRC or ICQ --OR-- they will let me ICQ and IRC and surf some sites (I can get to amazon.com but not gotapex.com!) and dl email. I haven't tried ftp but www is kinda important...
any ideas? We have checked all the settings in all of the different softwares and between each installation of each diff software we cleaned the registry to make sure nothing was left from the other.

Any ideas? I have thought about wiping clean my system... just incase something was residual. I wouldn't loose anything since I lost everything this weekend anyway...

Stupid question but I have to ask. You did install 2 nics in the ics host(hubby's cpu)?

It might be your network settings on the client computer.

If you can post settings for tcp/ip on both systems maybe I can help.

Also check http://www.practicallynetworked.com the have really good ics info. Also dowload there ics config utility to help configure your host for things like icu, icq, netmeetting.

if you didn't uninstall ICS on your PC then that is why it is flipping out...

ICS uses the same IP address so if you have ICS on more than one PC on a network they get screwy because they all are trying to have the same IP address......

We are figureing that something was residual on his system. He reformated his W2k partion and we reloaded AnalongX and have had success using that and ICS for ICQ.

We do have 2 nics in his system but that same setup was working prior with my system -- didn't have to use AnalogX at all.

Dunno...

He can't wait to get the router
