well, apparently i have some avi codec problem. Got mplayer and "The Playa" from divx site, both don't play certain avi's for some reason. mplayer did that auto codec download, but says decompresser didn't work. I upgraded divx, divx player, but still no go. I've also tried mplayer 7.0(which sucks ass by the way). So if anyone could give their 2cents here, it would be appreciated. Thanks.
sound card be Monster Sound II MX300 with its original driver(can't find upgrade, none on diamond's site neither) |

can you view it in preview?
also to watch it on wmp you need the complete file. incomplete files can be fixed with Divx Fix. Unload you mpeg4 codecs and reload them. Some of the downloaded divx codec i have found to be corrupted. I'll look for a link to good codecs. |

The 4.0 alpha codecs are NOT backwards compatible with the 3.11 alpha codecs. If your AVI file is encoded with the 3.11, it won't work with the 4.0 that you got from projectmayo/divx.com.
I've got both installed on my system, and it is working well with Windows Media Player (though not through Hyplay for some reason...) You can get the 3.11 codec here: http://divx.ctw.cc/index_main.html Of course, you may just have a corrupted avi file... |

It took me longer than a week to get most of my divx movies working... Glad I could help.
![]() I don't think that the motion picture industry needs to worry about divx yet. It's still a bit on the user-hostile side. |
