How would I go about removing an installation of win2k on a separate hard disk? Right now on disk 0 I have a dual boot of winME and win2k. On disk 1 I have another installation of win2k. I want to get rid of that installation. I don't think I can simply reformat disk 1 because when I just unplug that drive, it gives me a primary disk boot error.

Disk0 is your master drive, correct? And you installed WinME followed by wintookay on this drive? If so, it doesn't make sense why you would get a primary boot disk error.

How big are your drives? Would it be possible to make a bit-for-bit copy of disk0 onto disk1?

because win you put Win2k on it puts boot files on the main disk so you get the boot option in dos...

Here's another idea: use a disk image utility like Norton Ghost to create a back-up image of disk0. Fdisk and format disk1. Then do the same with disk0 and restore the back-up image.

Thanks guys

I'm triple booting if I confused anyone. I think the primary boot partition is actually on the 2nd installation of win2k (disk 1). It must be reading the boot file from the disk 1. My disk sizes are 20GB(disk 0), where winME and win2k are, and 8 GB(disk 1), where the second win2k is. What a mess. I don't have norton ghost so I'll prolly just reformat.

If you need a copy go here http://www.accesscomputersinc.com/Lo...Unique_Key=613
They have an OEM copy of Norton System Works 2001 for about $12.
