You should always do a clean install if possible. Less bugs that way. Not that there aren't many bugs in Windows to begin with anyway.

Definitely reformat.. the last thing you want is lingering Win Me files messing uo 98. also, i agree with everyone the win2k is the way to go. If you need anymore help just ask.

Cool Win98 SE / Win ME

I also tried Win ME - Did anyone say BUMMER - Happy on 98 SE
Win2K doesnŽt support all my hardware so IŽll wait with that one...

I'm running WinME on a sony vaio laptop.

Its working better than Win98SE. No BSOD at all.

Just love the System Restore feature. Its saved my butt a few times.

But I do run Win2kpro on my main system.

When i got my laptop the first thing i did was turn it on and made sure it worked... the second thing i did was boot into DOS and reformat the sucker. Ever since then i've been running Windows 2000 with perfect stability.

Cool

That could be a solution!
Nevertheless, my 98se runs very nice, so I wait until it really gets a must... ;-)

You may be waiting a very long time. WinMe is already being replaced by XP.

And WinME has never really been widely accepted.

I still think its worth the upgrade over Win98SE. Its never had a BSOD on my laptop. And it takes less space on install.

I know Win2K is so much more stable but dollar for dollar (if you did pay retail )WinME does what it say.

What I read about XP (Being harder on the resources) thats not an issue, but when I get back from my holliday, I might install ME...

ME SUCKS!!! don't be so hard on your system...one microsoft is hard enough on your computer! don't use ME

In my opinion use either 98 or 2000! and what i've read on xp...you have to pay out of your ass to use that one!!b

Cool

What I mean by "not an issue" is that I do not want to even consider XP! :-)
BTW - If I install ME is there any way to get rid of that stupid networkbrowser? (98se is much faster navigating your network I think)...
