Question

I have not been able to get W2K to install correctly with a 29160 and Western Digital 18 GB drive. The installation process formats and copies all of the necessary files to the HD, but the latest error message is ntoskrnl is missing from the system 32 directory. Well...after booting into DOS I can not see it, and I tried to copy it off of the W2K CD, and still nothing. Before then, it was a disk read error. So, I am lost here and any help would be great.

When you find out let me know. I had similar problems using a raid 0 setup and finally said screw it and got rid of the raid setup.

I too had problems installing win2k with an adaptec 29160 and a quantum 10k drive.

The solution was in the beginning of the install to push F6 and thus installing a "non microsoft dedicated SCSI driver". (or something like that)
I just pressed F6 and loaded up the Adaptec win2k driver. All worked flawless from then on.

I did that too, and then went through the install process and received those errors messages after the first reboot.

Am I understanding you corrctly that you find the driver and install, then when asked for any other drivers (for other hardware) you simply install the same driver again?
What do you mean by header?

Question

Yea, I am confused about the header deal too, but I will try that. Is it a requirement to start from the CD or will the floppies work too? I can remember with NT there were issues on starting with the CD and other from the floppies.

Thanks for the inf.
