A friend has a Mac and wants to transfer MS Word files from it to a PC so that he can print it. I told him to build a home network but that's above him. Isn't there a way to format a floppy or Zip so that it is readable by both platforms? Thanks!

yeah, use an ibm format disk in the mac and make sure that your friend saves the document so that it can be read by a windows version of word. you can use that disk on a windows pc.

Thanks Tommy. Isn't there a special format that the disk has to be in order to be read by the Mac? Or just a generic PC formatted disk?

Hapoo, don't you agree that its fun to torture Mac users? That's why I suggested a home network.

Macs can read PC formatted disks straight up. No special formatting needed... provided the Mac actually has a zip or floppy drive, of course. Macs stopped coming with floppy drives in 1998.

Macs format their disks their own way, but can also read PC formated disks as long as PC Exchange is installed.
