My friend ripped two DVD's that I own to mpeg format so that I can watch them on my laptop. But I would like to put them on a 700mb cd for backup and to take along more easy without waisting hard disk space.
I tried virtual dub but I have yet to see someone that has used it without getting an error. If you know of any other application that will shrink the size of the file or maybe cut out the credits that would be great. Thanks |

I've used virtual dub flalessly a couple of times...
Are you trying to downmix the movie to make it smaller? If so, the progr you want to use is DVD2AVI-just crop about ten pixels from either edge and you should get your 50M.
If that wasn't what you were asking....I don't know how to get 750 onto a 700M disc w/o using some wierd cab files or some such. Also: You prolly already know, but for others reading this thread: DVD's are encoded/compressed with MPEG2. Generally, when you rip a DVD to a HD or CD, you recompress using MPEG4, also known as DIVX. Tschau.
