Hi all,
I've set up a little LAN. I have the cable modem going into my desktop (SERVER) which has 2 NICs and is running win98. That is connected to a 5 port 10/100 switch. The switch is also connected to 2 laptops. I'm running NAT32 on the SERVER and using DHCP to assign IPs to the 2 laptops. LAPTOP1 is running Win98 and has no problem connecting the home network or connecting to the internet. LAPTOP2 is running Win2K and can connect to the other machines on the home network but can't access anything on the internet. Any ideas on what could be causing this? It is getting the IP address just fine from the DHCP server. Also I noticed that I can ping SOME internet addresses but not others. Any tips anyone? Thanks! |

Have you tried deleteing the TCP/IP stack and reinstalling it again?

It might have to do with the DNS entries on the Win2k machine. I had the same problem when setting up my router, but I don't use DHCP to assign the ip's.
http://63.214.181.197/ is the address for gotapex. Try getting to its webpage using the ip's and then http://www.gotapex.com If the ip works then i think it might have to do with the DNS server settings on the Win2k machine. |

Thanks for the help guys! I'll try out those suggestions.. Right now I'm at some hotel using highspeed internet through the same laptop/ethernet card and I'm having no problems.. I'll try to get it working at home when I get back..
