Outlook XP Attachments

I use Microsoft Outlook XP and am trying to retrieve an e-mail with and attachment. Since it is a .url attachment Outlook has deemed that I not have access to this file, or more specifically..."Outlook blocked access to the following potentially unsafe attachments:..."

I know the file is good since I sent it to myself from the office to my home.

I've checked the help file and if I read it right there is no way around this. Is this correct? Have they really written this program so that I can NEVER get a program or whole host of other files sent to me? Or is there a way to okay the file and get it? I realize it's just a .url attachment, but I'd like to know how this works a little better in case I get something important Outlook that is blocked.

Thanks for any insight.

Send a message via MSN to Jeffbx
Used to be with Outlook 2000, you could always save 'unsafe' attachments to your disk if OL was too paranoid to run them. Is this not the case anymore?

Also - to get around the limitation, send the attachment as .url.txt & then rename it on the other side.

Take a look at DetachXP. It should allow you to specify what file extensions to block at different restriction levels. Hope this helps.

NOTE: Works for Outlook 2002 (XP) only.
