New Hard Drive

I got a new hard drive. I want to transfer my configuration and files from my old hard drive to my new one. I'd hate to have to reinstall Win2000 and all my other programs. Is there a program that will let me do this?

Or you could just ghost the drive.

Thanks to Chosen, you get a larger answer.

Instead of wasting your time and formatting the machine, taking a few hours to re-install software and put backups back in, you could just slave the new hard drive to the current one.

After that, find a ghosting utility, there are plenty out there, throw the bootable floppy in the drive, and hit "Ghost: Drive to Drive".

At which point, it will basically take an hour (max) to get all of your current data onto the new hard drive, and your new drive will be an exact replica of your current drive now.

Everything will be the way you left it. Its great.
