Why does ejecting a disc freeze our computers?
You know...when you eject a CD or DVD, the system freezes for like three seconds...why?
This seems like the most fundamental function of computers...no one programing at MS thought of a routine to fix this? WHY !?! ![]()

hah you think thats a flaw?? try writing to a floppy, your whole computer freezes! The price you have to pay for backwards compatability i guess.

not always...
...but haven't you noticed how when CD's are inserted or removed, the system pauses while the disc ejects, or is inserted? Some *programs* don't, but every OS I've used does.

My system used to freeze for a good two seconds after taking out just cd's. Never did for floppy's though. I notice after I run a ScanDisk and Defrag it doesnt happen as often.
