Unhappy Win XP Pro + Geforce2 GTS-V + Detonator XP= !@#%$&^

I've been running Windows ME fine on my gaming system till now. This weekend I decided to install Windows XP Pro on it to finally upgrade my aging OS. My setup:
(from hotdeal forum, soyo xp combo deal from outpost awhile back)

AMD XP 1700+
SOYO K7ada
256 MB Crucial PC2100
Geforce GTS-V 32 MB DDR(from newegg)
19" Samsung 955 DF
Lite on DVD, burner etc.

I didn't change any hardware configuration. Fdisk, Formated the HD, Clean install with NTSF format. Install went fine. XP had all the drivers for everything. Even the for the GTS. But I went ahead and installed the Detonator XP/2000 v29.42 from Nvidia.com. New XP pro works great and and even raised some scores slightly in sandra. However the only problem is that when I go in to any program that uses OpenGL (ie. Counter Strike, RTcW, Madonion 3D mark) my screen shifts to the side and is gets stuck in 60hz refresh rate. I could still play the games fine but, shifted screen, low refresh rate effects my eyes and maxes out my fps to 60 in Counter Strike. Only programs I've installed so far are the games and 3d Mark 2001, Sandra. Also My 3d Mark score is very low. Before on my Win ME, I ran my GTS at 210/345 and got consistant scores above 4250 in 3dMark2001. Now my max score with overclock is only ~3200. I tried about 4 different versions of nivida drivers and all had same results. At desk top, everything works great and sharp. But any games that uses OpenGL shifts the screen to the left and low 60hz. Another weird thing is that even when I change my video options in games from 1024 to 640, screen size does not change at all. Any ideas? I really like to keep Windows XP pro, but can't play games at low 60hz.

*Things I tried so far, and still didn't fix:
1. Installed newer AGP driver for the board.
2. Uninstalled/Reinstalled/Rolled back to various NVIDA drivers

-Thanks in advance. help!

This is a problem with the operating system itself. It defaults to 60Hz for games. Stupid Microshaft.

Use RefreshLock: http://www.pagehosting.co.uk/rl/
or its successor RefreshForce: http://www.pagehosting.co.uk/rf/

you might want to try to turn off the v-sync settings, go into display option in control panel, settings, advanced, click the tab with ur geforce card's name, then click opengl settings, its in there, turn it off and it should go back up to 70-99 however good ur card is. if you dont have that menu, then u might need the coolbits.reg file to unlock the hidden menus.
