Nice going getting that CD-RW (just ordered my new lite on cd burner). A lot of people like the Lite-On 40x/12x/48x.
Use Nero. I put drive in first. |

i dont understand why everyone has so many problems with it. I've NEVER had problems with Easy CD Creator. Don't install that TakeTwo thing, I think that was it.. install the update, before restarting. It should work!
I use both, simultaneously. Easy CD Creator is more user friendly, while I use Nero to overburn, and burn iso's. And people have said that they have problem with both running. None of my systems have ever experienced that problem. *shrug* |

just do the following: 1. download the update 2. install easy cd creator (without Take Two) 3. do not restart. install the update. 4. restart the computer. you may want to consult their webpage. |

nero all the way. I never liked EasyCD because it was too bloated in my opinion

I used EZ CD 5.5 before but it screwed up the Win2K box so I switched to Nero (WinXP). Now I use Nero 5.5.8.2 for CDs, musics, and backup. FireBurner is used for ISO and bin files.

EZ CD - it's much easier to use. The times I had problems, the fix was always posted at Roxio's site.
There are the occasional protected CDs that Roxio can't handle, and for those I DO use Nero. |

Nero for sure. I had Easy CD and I got a lot of coasters out of it. The other problem I've had was I had a plextor from which I heard doesn't work in other non-plextor cd drives. It's broken anyways but makes a good cd-rom.

wait wait.. so your plextor cd-rw.. it doesn't burn anymore.. but you can still read off of it? have you actually burned that many cd's already?! hehe.. and.. i have 2 Plextor CD-RW's. a 24X IDE, and a 12X SCSI. the cd's that come out of 'em have no problems playing on other systems or cd-players. *shrug* and did your plextor have burn-proof? my old plextor didn't.. and it gave me coasters.. now my new one does, and its been coaster-free. |

Easy CD creator sucks, tehre is no point in using it. Nero + CLoneCD is all the burning software you'll ever need.

For burning, I like them both. I think they're pretty much equal as far as ease of use, etc. I give the nod to EZCD cuz it can create ISO files, whereas Nero can't. I work with ISOs quite a bit, so for me it makes more sense to use EZCD.

Wow-- this is turning into a religious conflict. Opinions seem to be split down the middle.
So........ I vote for Nero. EasyCD caused a lot of problems for me, and the fixes on Roxio's site didn't work for me (mitigating factor: I have not used EasyCD for over a year-- I got fed up with the thing always bombing on me-- maybe they got their act together). |

My plextor was I think 8x4x32. I didn't burn much at all. Maybe 20 cd's at most. I had it for a bit over a year *which btw is when the warranty expired* I would try to mp3 on to a CD-RW and it was readable if I put it in my plextor but not on a non-plextor cd-rom. Then I read somewhere on got|apex in fact that this is the many downsides of getting a Plextor. I actually got a Plextor b/c I heard so many good things about it. My plextor doesn't burn anything but as a cd-rom it does it's job. The blinking code on it translated to hardware or unknown error...send it back to Manufaturer according to the manual. Now my Yamaha is funky...it may be Nero but I'm not sure but it's still head and shoulders over the Adaptec crap. |

when i got my first burner, it came with EasyCD, and i used it for a while but made so many coasters while copying CDs for months, i couldnt figure out why.
Then somoene told me to try nero, so i did, and on first try, nero told me "You have your source and Burner on the same IDE bus, it will cause buffer underruns". So i switched busses, and now Nero is god, and EasyCD is a bum piece of software. Plus nero has a more powerful loking interface.
