active desktop

After hours of trying the suggestions from MS Knowledge base and some that I found on the web I still have the same problem. If I try to use “Active Desktop” I get this response “Internet Explorer cannot find the Active Desktop HTML file. This file is needed for your active desktop. To turn off active desktop click OK”. I have reinstall IE 6sp1 a couple of times I even edited the registry to change the version number to 5.50 so I could trick Windows into doing a complete reinstall. Were does IE look for this file? What is the name of the file? Help

This is not a fix but why do you need the active desktop? Are you using images other than BMP for wallpaper? If so check out Webshots. It is a screen saver but allows you to have high quality images on your desktop that can change every 15 minutes and you can delete and add any images you want, no limits. Also, it is fast and efficient uses little resources. Just a thought.

Cheers,
