Partitioning HDD Question

Ok.. so its that time again, when there's too much crap and time to start over. normally i'd just use the win xp's setup cd to repartition and reformat my hdd. However, this time around i want a dual boot with red hat 7.3 linux, and in the past i've had trouble with linux reading FAT32 drives that were created by Partition Magic. What's the best program to use for partitioning a hdd? is fdisk all there is that's OS independent?

Maybe I'm wrong but wouldn't the best thing to do is first install the windows os then put in the linux. Linux will do the work for you. I remember I did this a lil' while ago, installed win2k then put in mandrake, had not problems. I was using ntfs.

Good timing, Webhead-- I *just* did what Spid did, only with XP instead of W2K.

First I installed XP, using its version of fdisk to carve up my drive. XP went on the first chunk, which I formatted as NTFS.

Once XP was installed, I booted from the Mandrake CD and installed it on the second partition. (Of course, Mandrake carved its part of the disk further for the *nix parititons.)

Both OSes loaded nicely and at the final reboot after Mandrake's setup was complete, I was presented with a nice screen where you select which OS you want to boot.

I don't know how RedHat plays in the sandbox, but I would recommend installing XP first, as Spid says.
