Win XP or Win2K?

I've got two high end users that are looking to upgrade their computers. It's my job to find a happy medium from what they want and what we support. I need to make a decision for their OS, but I'm not sure which one is the better pick for what they need.

They're pretty high end users that will be using graphic design/web interface design programs. Here are their requested spec's:

User A’s computer upgrade:
Evo Workstation W4000/533 DDR - Convertible Minitower
W4000/845E/533 DDR Convertible Minitower
Intel® Pentium® 4 Processor 2.40GHz/533
512MB DDR/266 ECC
NVIDIA Quadro4 200NVS 64MB AGP
DRIVE 1 - 80GB ATA 7200 rpm Hard Drive QSI
DRIVE 2 - 80GB Ultra ATA 100 (7200rpm)
16X DVD/CDRW Combo Drive
Microsoft® Windows® XP Professional

User B's computer upgrade:
ThinkPad 2652 A Series, A31
(Std) 15.0 inch (1400x1050) TFT FlexView Display
(Std) Mobile Intel Pentium 4 processor-M at 1.8GHz with 512KB L2 Cache
15.0 TFT
Pentium 4 1.8GHz/512KB
512MB DDR SDRAM
40GB High Speed Hard Drive for A Series
Microsoft Windows XP Professional
IBM 8X Max DVD Drive

User A wanted that specific video card so that she could split her desktop and display half on one monitor, half on another. Going off the specs listed above, would you recommend XP or 2K for the OS.

Go with XP since they're designers, the programs that they probably use, adobe and macromedia stuff will be slightly more compatible on xp. Between the two os's though they are very similar. But XP is just a lil' better at hardware compatibility now (not when it first came out ).

Definetly XP. I have 5 users running Adobe GoLive, PageMaker and Office who were running 2000 before and have been very stable since the upgrade. Before the upgrade they had random issues, lock ups mostly. Same systems just with XP now.

Cheers,
Scott Murphy
