Adding a message board to my website? Opinions?

Anyone have a message board on their website?

I'd like to put one, similar to this one (I suppose), on my site.

Is there a place to download the software/code required?

Anything to watchout for?

Will I need to run a SQLserver on the website to run this (or any message board)?

I used Snitz Forums and it worked well for me, did not need SQL just a database. Here is a page from their site that also lists their competitors (even though they are free), this should give you plenty of choices. Phpbb is listed.

Does anyone have any experience with InvisionBoard?

I'd be interested in hearing from people who not only have used it to host a bulletin board, but anyone who has experience from a user's standpoint.

Highly configurable, moddable, and best of all open source so it won't cost you a penny. I run it on my site and love it.

It does however require PHP and MySQL access. DCForum was something I used for awhile when I only had Perl access and although it looks fairly good and has a lot of features, it is a serious space hog because of the way it stores data.

One of my webhosts uses invisionboard and the first time I went there I was quite impressed by the number of features it has. You can even put in sql and php commands in replies... Anyway, I thought it was really cool...

Thanks for the feedback, sho. I downloaded invisionboard and it installed pretty easily. Configuration was straightforward, too.
