Win XP Won't Shut Down
Hey Yall.
I just updated all the service packs and Windows XP updates for my friends computer. Afterwards, I can't get Windows XP Pro to shutdown. It just goes to the screen that says. IT IS NOW SAFE TO SHUT DOWN YOUR COMPUTER. It's a minor problem but it's annoying. Can anyone help me out? Thanks |

one reason that this is happening can be that one of those updates changed your APCI drivers. ACPI controls your computers advanced power functions. try to get original drivers from your motherboard manufacturer or you can try to roll back the driver to the previous one. to roll back, right click "my computer", click prperties, hardware (tab), device manager, expand computer and you should see something that says "advanced computer blah blah blah (ACPI)". check the properties of that and click the driver tab and you should see the option to roll back.
