Hey all...
Is there a way to force my games (Counter-Strike) to use my Windows98SE mouse settings (mouse speed)??? In other words -- I want the mouse speed that I set in Windows to be used in Counter-Strike... Before you ask "why not adjust the mouse speed IN the game" -- if I increase the mouse speed IN the game too much (to sensitivity = 10, for example), I lose alot of pinpoint-precision while moving the crosshairs. I like the pixel accuracy while moving the sights at sensitivity = 3. So...I'd like to set my Windows mouse settings HIGH to make 'turning' in the game easier, and set my CS settings low to have better precision. Is there a way to do this??? I downloaded the driver for my Logitech 4-button mouse. But the drivers are lame, and I can't get CS to recognize my 3rd and 4th buttons. I tried everything -- tech support, modifying my Logitech registry as advised, etc etc. I give up on these Logitech drivers... ![]() ![]() Anyone have any advice? Thanks... |

Thanks for reply, Fury.
I don't think there's any solution to my Logitech mouse issue...so I doubt I will get any more replies in this thread. So.......I'll move on... What mice (with at least 3-buttons) do you guys recommend, besides Logitech mice? I'm thinking Microsoft is the only true competition in this area. I'd love to buy a Razor Boomslang, but I'm not trying to pay $99 for MOUSE! Thanks... |

OK, this problem can be solved with 2 simple binds. You can use any 2 keys you want, but I will use F5 and F6.
Now in console type: bind F5 sensitivity 3 bind F6 sensitivity 10 Go into counter strike and when you want to AWP press F5 to get a nice smooth pixel accurracy, and then when you need to turn aronud quick or pick up an AK the next round just press F6. Now about not being able to use you 3rd and 4th mouse button, try going to USB, and if you are usb put on your PS.2 adapter (the green thing). post back if this didnt help. |

Thanks for your input, ma. Actually, I already know about the binds -- but they don't resolve my issue.
But I'll try using my usb->ps2 adapter ("the green thing") as you said. I am currently in usb-mode, so maybe this will work...thanks. I'll let you know... EDIT >> Nope, didn't work ![]() Last edited by iLLWiLL : 02-05-2003 at 05:28 PM. |

Cool deal, Boomfiger...good lookin out. Being that my current Logitech mouse cost $50 about 2 yrs ago, I'll consider the Boomslang for $60...thanks.
I understand the Boomslang is not an optical mouse. Is it just as accurate? How about in Windows applications? And do you have to CLEAN it like regular non-optical mice??? I like how I never have to clean my optical mouse... |

from using my 1000, the boomslang is an awesomely acurate mouse. plus i love the ability to change sensitivity on the fly. it was great for photoshop. when i needed to do precise work i would just hold in the side button and roll the wheel to the setting i wanted.
you do have to clean it just like any ball mouse which can be a pain, but it is a great mouse. another downside is that the sucker is big and heavy. i used to use 2 mice back in my win2k days because for normal web surfing and word processing i didnt need the boomslang. i used an optical mouse because it was much lighter. i just used the boomslang for photoshop and games and put the optical on the side. |

Thanks guyz...I'm seriously considering a Boomslang. Only drawback, as you guys said, is no support for XP, which isn't good. Hopefully the company can get it together and finally support their product.
Is the Boomslang 2000 dpi much more precise than the 1000 dpi? Wow, cuz that Boomslang 1000 dpi for $20 on ebay looks mighty tempting. What are the dpi's on current top-of-the-line mice from MS and Logitech? |

I have had a trying time getting the best mouse settings for CS. I recently upgraded my gaming PC to Windows XP only to find that I was having a laggy controls with my mouse, awful precision. I downgraded to 2000 and had alot better luck but went back to XP after further testing (see below).
What I found was that the Logitech drivers worked for every other game but not CS so I removed them which is not really a problem for me as my system is used only for games and the other games I play recognize the 3rd and 4th buttons even without the Logitech drivers. The 1st thing I did is remove Mouse Acceleration, and make sure that the sensitivity is set to default (I never touch the position that Windows XP or 2000). This results in a mouse sensitivity in CS to be around 3 to 3.5 for me with excellent precision but then screws up my sniper scope which becomes almost uncontrollable (very laggy or sluggish). To fix that I found on the SOGAMED.NET website some legal user configs that mentions the zoom_sensitivity_ratio which by default is 1.2 so I adjusted this to 1.3 or 1.4 and now my scouting/awping is excellent (changing this setting is legal by CAL-I standards). Hope this helps. Cheers, Scott Murphy |

I'm thinking of getting a Boomslang. I don't plan on moving to XP anytime soon (I tried in the past, and I had tons of driver issues and crashing). Damn, a 1000 dpi for $20 is tempting. But sometimes I like to go for the jugular when buying minor stuff, so I also want the 2000 dpi. I'm torn between them wondering if the price difference is worth it for the 2000 dpi... Oh, does the 1000 dpi have 4-buttons like the 2000? Thanks again yall... Last edited by iLLWiLL : 02-06-2003 at 06:18 PM. |
