memory leak in explorer?

I'm running windows xp...and I'm getting this problem:

I open up windows explorer, and open up my M drive.....
it stalls...
I have to wait for a good 10 minutes until it gives me the contents of the folder..
all the while..explorer eats up more and more memory.

anyone have any ideas as to why this happens?

and it's not just the M drive.

If I leave my computer on too long....it starts to eat up memory....

Do you have a whomping big .avi or .mpg or something similar in that drive? If I recall, that can cause massive slowdowns with explorer in XP... dunno if it was ever fixed in the service pack.
