WinXP Paging File (Admin: Please move to Software/OS)
If you were running 1.5GB RAM, would you disable the Paging File? If not, what advantage would there be to keeping it enabled (using 1.5GB RAM)?

That's sweet, CF. I wonder if that would work well for WinXP comps with 768 MB.

Thanks for the reply. I've been using the DisablePagingExecutive tweak for some time (among many others), I'd just heard some rumours about increased performance by disabling the Paging File if you had a ton of RAM. Thanks for clearing that up!
Edit: While on the subject, with 1.5GB RAM what would you set the pagefile to? Primary usage of the system is heavy video rendering and graphics editing (Photoshop). Last edited by Mademoiselle NOBS : 04-24-2003 at 01:49 PM. |

Now if you really wanna have some fun, create a ram drive and put all of your system files one it! Of course, you'll be screwed when you power off your system, but it's still fun!

actually, putting the paging file on a ram drive is a good idea; I've done it before with good results
