new AIM beta = transfer through firewalls!

My friend just told me bout this. We gave it a shot earlier, and it seemed to work. I tried sending him a file with the old 4.8, which it didn't work. He had the new one already. I upgraded, and it worked. I think both people have to have the newest version for it to work. Here's the link!

What option did you choose for it to work behind your router?

nothing. I just left it at it's default. And so did my friend, and it worked. Are you encountering some probs? Both people have to be running the new beta version.

Ya I was having problems connecting with my sister who is not behind a firewall of any sorts. She could connect to me though.

that's how my setting is. I noticed that I do have my port mapped on my router too, but that didn't do anything in the past. try direct connecting first, and then send a file.

just tried it with a friend.. experienced the same problem that you got. he was able to direct connect to me, but i couldn't initiate to him. and even with direct connect initiated, i couldn't click on the send file thing.. BUT.. i dragged and dropped a video into the chat when direct connected, and it sent. and he could send me files.. so though there are kinks to work out, it is still an improvement
