Windows Update

Has anyone tried downloading from windows update today and receives a failed installation on ever update it offers? I just reinstalled my friends computer and I'm trying to download all the updates and it gives a failed installation.

I'm also getting this error on another computer:

Thank you for your interest in Windows Update

Windows Update is the online extension of Windows that helps you get the most out of your computer.

The latest version of Windows Update is available on computers that are running Microsoft Windows 98, Windows 98 Second Edition, Windows Millennium Edition, Windows 2000 (except Windows 2000 Datacenter Server), Windows XP, and the Windows Server 2003 family.

They're axing windowsupdate.com permanently. I think the new address will be windowsupdate.microsoft.com

yeah you're right SnotRocket... windowsupdate.com is just a redirector that directs you to windowsupdate.microsoft.com. Anyways I wasn't able to download any patches because I was getting DNS errors.

Several big mistakes were made by the author of the virus. Obviously an amature... Prolly a high school or college kid trying it out.

Yep, I was seeing that all weekend when I was trying to update my daughter's computer (Win 98). All the updates are shown, then all fail to download.

I have Cox HSI (located in Las Vegas) and I had no DNS problems before the worm attack. I had to switch to an alternate DNS and it worked fine after that.
