Profiles in Internet Explorer/Mozilla

I work from home sometimes, so I connect to work via VPN and then use a Remote Desktop Connection to access my desktop. Rather than having to surf the intranet/internet through this Remote Desktop, I'd like to be able to use my local web browser(s) instead.

Is it possible to create profiles in Internet Explorer or Mozilla (specifically Firebird)? When I launch the browser, I'd like to be able to select a profile, which would give me a separate homepage and a different proxy setting per profile.

I can manually enter the link to the proxy config file in my local browser each time I want to access the intranet/internet, but it's a pain in the butt to have to go back and switch to "no proxy" when I disconnect from VPN.

It seems like Netscape 4.x had the ability to create profiles, so I would have thought that I would be able to do that in Firebird, but I can't find it anywhere in the options...

I've thought about creating a new account on my WinXP system specifically for doing work stuff, but it would probably still be a hassle to swap back and forth.
