cheapest/free virus scanner?

what virus scanners are out there that are free or REALLY cheap?

I know like mcaffee and norton are pretty expensive.....
wondering if there's any that are free.

You might be able to find Norton for free after rebates- I have seen that several places lately.

AVG is what I use.

http://www.avast.com/ is also good.

McAfee has a free, stand alone scanner available - http://vil.nai.com/vil/averttools.asp

Just download it & run the executable to scan your drive. Very handy for cleaning infected machines that have no scanner installed.
