Windows Small Business Server 2003 Premium Edition...
Don't know why but I received SB Server 2003 Premium Ed. with 5 Client Licenses from MSFT the other day. I've networked 3 XP boxes in my house peer to peer for the past year and a half and I'm wondering if I should go to a real server (Dell always runs those server deals).
Does anyone have an idea of how difficult that would be and whether I'd still be able to configure different PCs/notebooks with their own software (i.e., the kids' box has different software than my PC or the notebook)? Thanks. |

If you have an interest, I'd say install the server. SB server comes with Exchange email server, web server, sql server and a couple of others. It's actually a really nice all in one package.
It will not affect what software you install on your other machines, as long as they have TCP/IP installed they will be able to communicate with it.
