Strange problem with WinDVD4

I recently installed a 8x DVD burner in my PC running Windows 2000. The drive came with WinDVD4 which I installed.

If I try running WinDVD from my user account, which has administrative rights it does not work. WinDVD opens up but the screen remains blank and no audio as well.

If I run WinDVD from a non-administrative account all is well.

I created a new user account with administrative rights and had the same problem. I then edited this account and made it a power user account and WinDVD started working.

Any ideas on where the problem could be ?
