Hard drive backup

SO when i used to create images, i used nortong ghost, i would create a small partition lessay 2 gigs so the image would be small, install all the basic stuff, ghost that sonofabitch, and then delete the partition and create normal sized partitions and work from there

my question to you guys is

what software do you use for "ghosting", what are your methods

i use norton Ghost

i have 2 harddrives.
Drive 1 is my system drive os and applications are stored there it is a 40gb drive.
Drive 2 is a 120GB drive. with 2 partitions the first larger partition is for storage of my data Mp3's Video files ect. the second smaller partition is for storage of my Ghost images of my system drive. I set my system up teh way i wanted it installed all teh patched and such then ghost it to my backup partition. when i get a lot of junk installed or mess somthing up on my system i just re image the drive from my back up partiton. i also keep a copy of my document on each drive in an uncompressed state. and just hope bot hdrives dont die at the same time.

there really is hardly any equal to norton's ghost..

and many people ask.. where are the free alternatives ?

there are a few in the *nix environment and only one that I've seen for windows..

http://www.xxcopy.com/

for *nix..
first one I believe is included in knoppix 3.2, a live cd, so no install needed.

then there's :

I use Norton Ghost Enterprise Edition 7.5, it has great compression and can copy straight to cd and dvd media. I have 3 HDD in my system, 1 30GB IBM for my OS, plus 2 WD 120GB's in a RAID 0. I currently back up to cd, but when the new dual layer dvd's come out in April I will switch to DVD backups.
