What's the leanest WinXP install you've seen?

I'm messing around and trying to get it as lean as possible upon login. So far, I'm down to using 80 MB of memory (including zonealarm and popup stopper) after login. Mind you, this is on a Dell using the from-the-factory install of XP Home.

Any tips on getting it even more lean?

Aren't you going to load an anti-virus program on there? What are you using for your pop up stopper?

Nope, no AV. And I use the Popup Stopper free edition. I haven't found an AV program that I like enough to let it run 24/7 on my system. Though, Trendmicro's is not too bad.

For those of you who have tweaked your systems using this guide, is it recommended to just go with the reg hack, or actually tune the services manually?

Yep... disabled any and all unnecessary services (that I recognized)... but in my latest attempt, I'm going to do a fresh install. Tried ghosting my old Win2k install on it, but it blue screened and gave me "boot device inaccessable".

Anyone know any way around such a BSOD error? If not, no big deal. Differences in the HAL maybe?

I would warn against using registry hacks. Some of them work a little bit, like tweaking your paging, but I'd used a reg hack utility called BootVis made by microsoft, and it wreaked havoc on my system, and I had to format and reinstall quickly.
