For Dummies: Inserting a link into MS Outlook Email

I use a PC at work and I don't know how to insert a link where the text says one thing and the link goes another place. Any help? I tried the help menu but it pissed me off. It's not Outlook Express, it's uh regular Outlook.

I'm trying to do something a bit like this

Hmmmm, that used to work in AOL way back before stylized text but no, that doesn't seem to work for me.

In Outlook2003, I use "insert->hyperlink" from the menu at the top of the message I am composing. This brings up a menu that allows you to enter "text to display" as well as the URL.

Key to note: I have set MS word 2003 as my default message editor. You may need to do the same.

Hmmm, I tried both of those Control-K doesn't appear to do anything. The insert menu only has the following: File, item, object, signature. Do I have to install something or am I SOL until I find a copy of Outlook 2003 (right now I'm using 2000)

what type of message is it?

if it's plain text message, html won't work. you can change settings to go from plain text, to rich text, to html

Change the message format to plain text, HTML, or Rich Text

Change the default message format for all new messages

On the Tools menu, click Options, and then click the Mail Format tab.
In the Compose in this message format list, click the format you want.

Did you try changing MS word to be your default editor?

This is how I do it in Outlook 2003:
Tools->Options->Mail Format Tab-> "Use Microsoft Word as default editor"
