another Excel question
i tried reading the help on this, but didn't quite understand it.
is there a way to make a "database" in excel? basically, i want to list of equations like x+1, 2x-1, ..etc. then i would like to randomly draw equations from that database. TIA Last edited by RoniMan : 08-01-2004 at 10:04 AM. |

Yes... Excel does have a "minor" database function... however it will never be as powerful as a true "Access" database (as a simple database) or FoxBase database.
Basically, you need to set up an array of values and then have each variable refer to the correct value for your equation.

Sorry man... it's been SO long since I have even done anything like that (especially since I use Access more often for database functions). I just can't give you an example.
Best I can recommend is use the Excel help files to help you figure it out. ![]() |

as far as I can remember for using excel as a database,
you need to skip the first column and row (actually, i don't know if you need to skip the first column, but hey...it can't hurt) for excel to reconize the data as a database. hope that helps...plus, I don't even know if that is correct! Sorry it's been so long since I've used excel as a database...like DF said...access is what I've been using!
