wireless network

flaky as hell

i can't wait to get to college to get back on a wired connection.

i can't stay connected for more that 10 mins at a time, and i have no freakin clue as to why. POS **** ***** ***** ***** ******** ******** ***

My sister in law had a similar problem, and upgrading the firmware on her netgear router made all the difference in the world. It is rock solid now.

hardware?

anyways, i would look for the microwave, cordless phones, or another network with an overlapping channel.

yeah, it is a 2.4.....how can i change it, other than getting a new router? its a d-link 514

For your router and card, there's an option to change the channel to one that causes less interference. It goes from 1-6 (i think). Just make sure they are both set at the same channel.

your system will automatically selec t the right channel. You need to setup the router for a channel. The channels are 1-11 for the US. You need to make sure the channels dont overlap. There are 3 non overlapping channels, which are 1, 6, and 11. 802.11b/g uses several frequencies for each channel. Some channels share frequencies, which causes the overlap.

This is such a pain..My only phone is a 2.4 and whenever I answer..boom..goodbye 802.11..Oh well..My fault for having a 2.4 I guess..
