Exclamation New ATI drivers for increased performance of Doom 3......

It seems like ATI is providing an early version of CATALYST 4.9 to users interested in increasing performance of Doom 3. The Canadians are eager to be seen doing something in order to improve the Doom 3 gaming experience for ATI board owners.....

Did anyone try that?? I didnt notice any difference..I have a ATI 9600 128mb PRO and I didnt notice any anything. Ohh well its still in BETA and so its not complete.

Here is the link for that
http://www2.ati.com/drivers/wxp-w2k-...7a-017086E.exe

Its also comes with a hefty warning from ATI..

" Warning :
PLEASE READ ALL OF THIS BEFORE YOU PROCEED:

The BETA display drivers found here are offered AS IS, without warranty of any kind, and have NOT been completely qualified by ATI. Usage of these drivers are without support of any kind, and you use them at your own risk.

ATI does NOT recommend installing these drivers in systems used for mission critical operations or where productivity of any kind is a concern.

Unless you are very comfortable with installing and un-installing drivers, we DO NOT recommend that you use the drivers provided here. These BETA Drivers are NOT SUPPORTED by ATI Customer Care or any other ATI department. "

More info here:

they have a new revision of the control panel, too I've heard. I'm sticking with 4.6 until a new set has a considerable performance improvement in all games, not just one or two.

Since they released those beta drivers, they have come out with 4.8 drivers that are supposedly optimised for doom. They work well for me.

I haven't tried Doom 3 yet, but the 4.8 fixed some issues with Splinter Cell Pandora Tomorrow. Driver updates have increased my 3D Mark 2003 score by over 100 points from a year ago. No hardware changes.
