Sygate Personal Firewall plus my wireless router...

Sygate is much easier to configure for home networking than ZA IMHO.

Hardware firewall is the way to go, esp. if you have multiple machines on your network.

i wouldnt rely on the built in firewall. pick up a copy of the latest 2600 and read the article about hacking consumer gateways. You would be suprised about how easily they can be broken.

I have actually been considering a Pix 501 for home use. Just not sure I want to spend that kind of money on a firewall. Although it would give me a test platform to play with, so I don't hose the firewalls at work, when I need to make a change to them.

My router has a firewall built in and I have the XP firewall enabled. My friend had that McAfee security suite installed from Dell and it was making his online gaming ping rates go from 30 to 1200 when it was enabled on a new 8400 PC.
