Firewire network under XP Professional

I have would like to network a laptop and desktop with a firewire cable so that I can transfer very large files between them.

The PC's share a DSL Internet connection (wired router and wireless access point). Can I keep existing network, and also connect them using firewire for moving the big chunks of data? Is there a special firewire cable to use - analogous to a crossover cable for ethernet?

Thanks!

You should be able to use a standard firewire cable between the two PCs. Since firewire is technically a network connection, XP should be able to figure out its route.
