Home vs. Pro

Right now, I have WinXP Home, I can get the upgrade version of WinXP Pro for 82 dollars. Do ya'll think this will be worth it?

TIA

I don't think this'll stop anything though - the better you idiot-proof a system, the more impressive the idiot becomes.

do you do alot of network stuff...... basicaly the major differance is there are a few more network options using Pro than using home ..... and really i dont think it is worth $82.00 and doing an upgrade just bloats your OS and the anount of HS space it takes up. better to do a fresh install.

I've used both, if it's doing what you want with the home edition, stay with it. If your having operating system problems that's another story.

A few features from pro got added to Home after the SP2 upgrade. I would said stick with home unless you have a specific need for Pro. I have Pro at home and Home at work I dont see a difference.

Here's some comparison information:

http://www.winsupersite.com/showcase...p_home_pro.asp

Unless you are on a domain I personally don't see the need for the upgrade.

If the deal's right, you might buy it and hold it for future use - if you ever need to "nuke and pave" you can install it then.
