Question Renaming folders in Explorer Folder Pane

OK - this is really bugging me. I recently had to reinstall XP (Pro) and I lost about 3 years of customizations. I know in the past it was possible for me to open Explorer, left click on a folder name in the left window (folder pane) to highlight it, then left click again to put the name into edit mode. After reloading, the only way to do this is to right click and select Rename. How do I get the old behavior back? (The second click in the right pane always puts the folder or file name into edit mode.)

im not sure exactly what your trying to do. TweakUI is a lil MS toy that has lots of explorer and desktop settings. just about everything you can change is in here.

that's odd...mine still does that, i never did anything...

what happens when you left click on a folder now?

have you check the settings to see if the "one-click" option is turned off on the mouse settings?

None of the tweak utilities I've looked at (TweakUI, FreshUI, X-setup) seem to have any settings to change this behavior. My 2000 Pro system at work allows the second-click-to-enter-rename-mode on folders in the folder pane. But an XP (SP1) system on one piece of equipment I work on doesn't.

In Windows Explorer Goto the following menus: Tools, Folder Options. In the View tab, under Advanced Settings, uncheck "Display simple folder view in Explorer's folder list". It's the 3rd item down the list.
