I run a phpNuke portal for an alumni site and I wanted to add a chatroom. I have found several applications that will connect to an IRC server chatroom, but the problem is that this chatroom can be seen by anyone on the IRC server unless I mark it with a password each time I create it.

The site is a non profit school alumni site so spending $$$ is out of the question unless its cheap and it works. Anyone have any suggestions?

The server is just a hosted server running SQL on it, but the chatroom has to be secure unless you are coming to it from the site.
