69 bucks. I already have it preordered. They plan to ship one week early so it'll be delivered by the 29th.

can't wait for it for automater. That thing will be great for my laziness. Also so my dad doesn't need to remember all the steps anymore from taking his powerpoints converting to jpg to get onto his ipod for presenting. >< just so hard to get him to remember how to do it.

Dang! Glad I stopped in here - I am new to Apple, an did not know they offered an educational discount on Tiger. I have 2 Macs, I wish they'd have an educational discount on the family pack

What about recommended RAM? My Mac Mini has 512MB of RAM out of the box and a Superdrive. I'd think that would be enough for now? However my older LCD iMac, a 1GHz unit with a combo drive, only has 256MB of RAM. Should I upgrade? I have an open slot.

Welcome thekidrocks You face the dilemna that I have with my Mac Mini's, which is be content with 512, or purchase a gig chip for around $350, which then makes it not such a cheap computer anymore. I am running X.3 server on one Mac Mini which is fine, since it is only hosting a website. The other is just a desktop with no special requirements other than Office and web so 512 is sufficient there as well. But if you are going to do any video editing, you might want to invest in the gig chip.

*edit* I just saw on the front deals page the gig chip for $150! That's a great deal. A good excuse to upgrade

I like your floor. And are you using the mac to watch movies and stuff or the sony dvd changer? Does it freeze up on you?

better yet:
http://www.newegg.com/app/ViewProduc...141-198&depa=1

works with the mini and is under $100 before shipping.

I use the mini as a server. I am using Quartz Debugger from Xcode 2 to allow me to see the display better on my tv. with this handy little app, I can view everything crystal clear from across the room. I found that upsizing to a factor of about 1.5 does the trick.

For those who havent heard about quartz debug, theres an option (apple key - U) that will allow you to resize everything displayed. It works really good because most of the system is vector based, so there isnt any pixelation. Dashboard does get messy though. Try it out.

I use the sony changer for movies because it will do DTS, the mini only has stereo out.

Cool! That is the cheapest I have ever seen a Gig of RAM.

BTW - I just upgraded the RAM in my G4 iMac TFT to 512MB via the "upper" RAM, as I had a new 512MB strip of PC3200 here. Makes a big difference in performance with Panther.

I read horror stories of taking that unit apart (at least the 800Mhz version - mine is 1Ghz, with different connectors than the photos I saw), I didn't think it was a big deal at all. As soon as I realized where the connectors were for the two halves of the dome, I was gentle... and the RAM slot is opposite, so you pull out the old and insert the new without unpluging anything. Easier than taking a Mac Mini apart.. requires rotary tools (LOL)

By the way I was kidding in this statement. I am just working on my own setup which should rock. But your setup is pretty awesome.
