Yahoo Toolbar For Firefox Is Completed July 29, 2005

Yahoo has shifted its Toolbar for Mozilla's Firefox out of beta and into final form as it posted the add-on to its site for download.

Yahoo Toolbar for Firefox, which first showed in beta in February and was updated in April, now sports a drag-and-drop search resizable search box, an improved search history list, and most important, support for adding RSS (Real Simple Syndication) and Atom feeds to the user's My Yahoo page using the Live Bookmarks icon in the Firefox status bar.

The toolbar retains the features introduced in the two beta editions, including bookmarks accessible from any connected computer, Yahoo Mail notification, and a translation tool.

Users can download the toolbar in versions for Windows, Mac, and Linux editions of Firefox from the Yahoo site.

Development of the toolbar will continue, said Jon Granrose, the software's product manager in a blog posting on Yahoo. "We’ve several more cool hacks coming down the pipe soon," he wrote.

All the major search sites, with the unsurprising exception of MSN, have released toolbars for Firefox, the open-source browser which currently owns an estimated 7-9 percent of the market.
